National Woman's Christian Temperance Union
"Let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit,
perfecting holiness out of reverence for God."
2 Corinthians 7:1 (NIV)
The Mission of the White Ribbon Women is to organize the motherhood of the world for the protection and exaltation of its homes.
Why We Believe in WCTU

Prevention First
We believe that prevention is the best lifestyle choice.
It is better to build a fence at the top of a cliff
than to park an ambulance at the bottom.

Informed and Equipped
We are informed about the harmful effects of alcohol, illegal drugs, including marijuana, tobacco, and the misuse of prescription drugs. We read and study current scientific research so that our efforts are based on facts, not opinions.

Sharing Knowledge
Through Signal Press and in coordination with others, we provide scientific, factual, and up-to-date materials for use in schools, churches, organizations, and homes. Our publications include books, leaflets, lesson kits, study aids, newsletters, and journals.

A Legacy of Faith and Action
We belong to an organization with over 150 years of continuous witness for Christ in both public and private life, “banding Christian women together for the protection of the home.” The WCTU is a worldwide fellowship, active in 64 countries, and was honored by a nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize in 1989.
