Sew What?

Under WCTU's Do Everything policy, local WCTU's created Sewing Schools for girls.

We can get a glimpse of what was taught as we peek into this sewing book created by Julia Roelkey in 1906 when she was just 11 years old.

Julia wrote on the inside cover, "I won $5.00 for the best garment (a corset cover) and a sterling silver thimble."

A note taped to the cover from the instructor reads, "Excellent work from beginning to end."
