CITIZEN'S RESOLUTION

I BELIEVE legislators and other public officials should have the best interest of the public's health, welfare and safety as their  primary focus in running for office and in making decisions affecting the public,

I BELIEVE alcohol, tobacco and gambling have  historically had a largely negative impact on individuals, families and  communities in the areas of physical, mental and financial health, safety and well-being,

I BELIEVE alcoholic beverage, tobacco and gambling  interests have been unduly influencing the public policy and legislation  directed at alcohol, tobacco and gambling through huge financial campaign contributions and lobbying efforts,

I BELIEVE public policy should be decided on the merits of its impact on the health, safety and well being of the public and not on financial campaign contributions or gifts,

Therefore I will not support nor financially contribute to any candidate who is unwilling to sign the "Pledge of Honor and Civic Responsibility" which states that he or she will not accept any financial  campaign contributions or gifts, directly or indirectly, from alcohol, tobacco or gambling interests or organizations.
